Thanks to the VZLUSAT-2 satellite, the Czech Republic has its eyes in orbit. It is the only satellite built in the Czech Republic capable of taking high-resolution photos of Earth. It sent pictures of Prague, Orlík, the Czech Republic’s, Slovakia’s and Austria!s border areas, and of the Alps. The VZLUSAT-2 satellite is celebrating a year in orbit these days. It was launched by Elon Musk’s Falcon 9 rocket from Space X on January 13, 2022.
Since the beginning of its mission, VZLUSAT-2 has taken color and black-and-white images from several continents. It is fully under control and can photograph any part of the Earth.
Vladímír Dániel, who as a scientist participated on the construction of VZLUSAT-2 and VZLUSAT-1, explains that the VZLUSAT-2 satellite is equipped with an orientation and stabilization system based on reaction wheels and many sensors. „Now we can take a picture in any direction. In this case, we will achieve a high resolution“
